Erdogan Names Fahrettin Altun as Turkey’s Ambassador to Holy Sea
Altun, who recently served as chair of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and previously led the Presidency’s Communications Directorate, will now take up the diplomatic role at the Vatican as part of a broader set of foreign service appointments.
The latest postings were confirmed through a presidential decree signed by Erdoğan and published in Türkiye’s Official Gazette, as stated by reports.
Under the same decision, Mustafa Kibaroglu was designated as Türkiye’s permanent representative to the United Nations Office in Vienna.
In addition, Mustafa Turker Ari was assigned as ambassador to Georgia, where he will serve at the Turkish Embassy in Tbilisi.
Meanwhile, Baris Ceyhun Erciyes, who currently works as deputy director general responsible for the Balkans and Central Europe at the Turkish Foreign Ministry, has been selected to serve as ambassador to Albania, with his post based in Tirana.
